Swiss Championships

Simon W is currently playing in the Swiss Championships. His internet connection is terrible apparently, hence the lack of updates, but he did manage to send me the following nice game against Korchnoi. I can’t find a website anywhere so have no idea of the scores, but if he’s beating Korchnoi with Black in round 7 it’s probably safe to assume he’s doing ok!

I put “Chess at Grachen” in Google to get the tournament website. reading from the top it is:

One more round to go and Si is leading on 7 ..nearest are three on 6.5 I think. Aly is half a point behind the leading woman.

Thanks for that Pam. Dismal website though isn’t it? Plus only Swiss people in the pic. Bit parochial.

Good job by Simon there. Splendid game v Korchnoi and good to see that Simon is starting to play a proper opening versus d4 at last. Wonder if the old warhorse had a few choice words after.

Next stop 2600. Keep on hacking away!

Si,well played mate-tremendous performance and really well played duffing up Korchnoi like that. Did he give you a hard time in the post mortem or was he ok?
I heard that he pepares insults!

I could only manage second in Wales(7/9),but at least I got my 4 ELO points back from giving up all those lazy draws in Purley

Not much wrong with the website really. It’s functional, that’s all, and doesn’t pander to those who expect everything to be in English (it’s got the option of French or German, top right)
